Circular economy: Regulation – new rules to stimulate the usage of organic fertilizers and waste

Goals and objectives: – creation of a genuine domestic fertilizer market from organic as well as secondary raw materials and thus ensuring the replacement of nutrients and dependence on imported raw materials; -stimulating the large-scale production of organic fertilizers in the EU as a result of the full usage of internal organic or secondary raw materials in accordance with the circular economy model and Bioeconomy 6 strategy by converting waste into nutrients for crops; – utilization of organic waste and by-products by processing them into organic fertilizers, efficient use of raw materials and turning the problems of eutrophication and waste disposal into economic opportunities; – determination of safety requirements, quality and labeling of fertilizers; – improvement of the environment; – environmental protection; – the introduction of strict restrictions on the content of cadmium in phosphorus fertilizers and their use; – definition of waste management rules; – avoidance of soil pollution and degradation, restoration of soil fertility; – obtaining agricultural products of high biological quality – reducing emissions of emission gases; – water protection.

“Energy Waste Proposal”

Goals and objectives: the EU’s common goal is to reduce waste generation, increase recycling and energy potential, reduce resource use, increase sustainability and competitiveness in the sectors covered by the Action Plan for the disposal of 65% of municipal waste by 2030; EU common goal of recycling 75% of packaging waste by 2030; the mandatory goal of reducing waste disposal to 10% of municipal waste by 2030; Energy waste encompasses various waste treatment processes that generate energy (for example, electricity, organic fertilizers, heat or the production of fuel derived from waste), each of which has a different environmental impact and circular economic potential.

New “Circular financial platform for the economy”

Goals and objectives: Creation of a circular economic platform to support and stimulate investment, innovation in a circular economy, the search for new financial solutions for the EU’s circular economic interests. The action plan will be financed by the EIB, the European Strategic Investment Fund (EFSI) and InnovFin EU Finance for Innovators, which include 5.5 billion Euros for waste management. In addition, support will be provided in the amount of 650 million euros in the framework of Horizon 2020 (EU funding program for research and innovation) “Industry 2020 in the circular economy” and investments in the circular economy at the national level. In addition, the possible need for new specialized financial instruments for projects with a circular economy is considered.
